These are very good companies and we have clients with all of them. HOWEVER, they all have limitations that will upset you if you do not understand their policy. All of these companies have at least one of the following limits: (1) Labwork & X-rays not covered with copay, (2) No Wellness visits covered, (3) No prescription coverage, unless you upgrade your policy, (4) no Emergency Room copay benefit, (5) You are only allowed 2 doctor visits per year, (6) etc. If you understand the limitations then you will be happy, but most people who buy these companies online don't understand the limitations until it is too late. *Wellpath's quotes are usually less expensive than BCBSNC for almost identical plans. Sometimes they are much less, especially for the lower deductible plans. Of course there are exceptions, especially 0-1 year olds who are very expensive with Wellpath. If you have a 0-1 year old then see if you qualify (income wise) for free/dicounted insurance for kids through NC or put them on BCBSNC and the rest of the family on Wellpath. There is no discount by either BCBSNC or Wellpath for keeping the family together with 1 company. It is often cheaper to split the family into different companies than staying all together.
